Ed Middlebrooks is a native Floridian born in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ed attended the University of Miami where he obtained a BBA and law degree. While at the University of Miami, Ed was on the Law Review.

 

After graduating from the University of Miami, Ed joined the general practice rm of Smathers, Thompson and Dyer. In 1962 Ed focused his practice in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death, joining the rm of Nichols, Gaither, Beckham, Colson & Spence.

 

In 1968 Ray Ferrero, Jr. (who also later became president of the Florida Bar) and Ed started their own law rm in Fort Lauderdale and practiced together, doing primarily personal injury and wrongful death litigation for the next 27 years.

 

Ed has been very active in various capacities as a member of the Florida Bar. He has been a member of the Broward County Bar Association serving on the Medical-Legal Committee from 1969 to 1973. He was Chairman of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee from 1976 to 1979. He has been active in the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association, serving as a past president. Ed is an active member of the national and state trial lawyers associations known as the American Association for Justice and the Florida Justice Association.

 

He is also an active member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum whose membership is restricted to lawyers who have tried or settled cases in excess of one million dollars. He is also one of four lawyers in Broward County to be a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and one of two lawyers in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Ed is also admitted to practice in all State Courts in Florida. In 2007, Ed was selected as one of 100 top trial lawyers by the American Trial Lawyers Association. Ed has also been selected for inclusion on the Florida Super Lawyers list for 2008 which represents only 5% of South Florida attorneys.

 

Ed resides in Davie, Florida with his wife, Barbara. He has three children and nine grandchildren.

Todd Middlebrooks is a native Floridian born in Miami, Florida. Todd was admitted into the Florida Bar in 1989 after graduating with honors from the College of Law at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

 

In that same year Todd began working as an Assistant State Attorney in the 17th Judicial Circuit, which serves Broward County, Florida. Todd left the State Attorneys’ oce at the end of 1992 to join his father’s rm. Since he started practicing with his father, his focus has been almost exclusively in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death.

 

Throughout his career, Todd has been active in the Florida Bar. Todd served for a number of years as a member of the Code and Rules of Evidence Committee of the Florida Bar. Later, Todd served as a member on one of the Florida Bar Grievance Committees. Todd is also a member of the Broward County Bar, the Florida Justice Association, American Association for Justice, Broward County Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Association. Todd is admitted to practice in all State Courts in Florida, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

 

Todd resides in Ft. Lauderdale with his wife, Daryl, and has four children, Ty, Jake, Mackenzy and Ben. He is active in his community, serving on the Coral Ridge Homeowners Association Board and coaching and assisting his children’s sport teams. Todd is also an active member of his church serving in a number of dierent capacities.
